Long sleek hair style

The hair styles for spring summer 2016 are either crazy or very simple. For the Angelo Marani SS 2016 top hair stylist Neil Moodie created a long sleek hair look with nineties references. ‘Not grungy, but more like the step after grunge‘, explained Moodie. Watch the video interview or read more below. And copy the look!

Video interview with Neil Moodie, hair stylist at D+V Management using Windle & Moodie

‘For the hair look for the Angelo Marani show of today we have gone back to the nineties. So you will see lots of nineties references and hair that is kind of virginal, beautiful but not grungy, more like the step after grunge.’

‘So what we are doing is blow drying all the hair, using Windle & Moodie Foundation Spray and adding Windle & Moodie Thickening Cream to the hair as well so the hair becomes quite sort of lush, sort of gorgeous. We are just making all the hair straight and then we are adding hair extensions so that the hair becomes a blunt hair cut, it becomes all one. Almost like that virginal hair that people have before they start cutting their hair off, and playing and doing colors, things like that. And then we are just literally parting the hair on the side and tucking the hair behind the ear. So it is a very simple look, very sort of nineties, a bit early Helmut Lang actually.’

Is this a trend for summer 2016?

‘I think it will be one of them. It seems that the trends are really crazy and bonkers or very very simple, beautiful and classic.’

Eugene Souleiman and the hair looks at Antonio Marras SS2016

Eugene Souleiman is not just a hair stylist, he is an artist. And a very elegant, polite, sweet person. Every season we meet him and interview him at the Antonio Marras shows, and so we did also for the Spring Summer 2016 collection. A great hair look, and Eugene’s tips and advice to copy this look. Good luck :-)

This is what Eugene Souleiman told us:

‘I love doing Antonio’s shows and I understand his artisanal ability so I tried to do something more artisanal with the hair too. Something artisanal, something more playful, something very delicate, ornate and precious, but not precious in a uptight serious way, but precious in a very delicate loving gentile way.’

‘The inspiration for me came from Patricia, Antonio’s wife, because she always has interesting beautiful hairstyles. I tried to combine her look with a lot of Renaissance paintings and sculptors from Italy.’

‘So we have very beautiful ornate braids that look very cute and quirky. Very simple. There are no products in the braids, so the hair feels very light. It is soft and light and beautiful. My two daughters love hair like this. It is very playful and light, but at the same time very gorgeous.’

Anthony Turner interview at the Salvatore Ferragamo SS2016 Show in Milan

Backstage at the Salvatore Ferragamo fashion show in Milano (SS2016) we met and talked to Anthony Turner about the hair look for this show. The products, the inspiration and more. Watch or read (see below) the interview, learn about the latest hair trends and copy the look.

Interview with Anthony Turner

Basically the look we did for Ferragamo is very anti the collection. It is kind of anti-summer as well in a sense, because when we think of summer stars, especially in hair, we think of hair down, very loose, soft. That is the trend we have been seeing so far this season, but we change these things for Ferragamo a little bit.

We are having a little bit more fun. The collection is very light and soft, lots of layers, very romantic, but we are doing something that is not romantic, we are rebelling against the collection somehow, and it is kind of fun to do that. We have done a very low side part and we are basically making the girls heads into these little boy shapes on top and then a really low pony tail at the back.

Which hair products did you use for this hair look?

We are actually using quite a lot of gel, especially on the top. We are using loads of gel. I like the light on the runway, the light is really bright, really fresh. Basically when the girls walk the gel is going give me this reflectiveness, it is going make the hair feel like vinyl. I like the idea of it being reflective, which is a kind of elevating, it gives it something else. It is kind of fun. I haven’t used gel this season, we are getting our hand dirty. It is a lot of fun.
